WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE HAZEL GAP BARN AS YOUR WEDDING VENUE?
St Marys Church, Norton Cuckney. Hazel Gap Barn, Budby. Without a doubt we found the venue hunt the hardest part of planning a wedding. We used the internet to window shop a lot of venues, and visited a hand full, but with such a judgement criterior against our search it wasn't easy. We wanted a venue that was a reflection of us, our style & personalities, that was in a location that had some meaning to one of us and the list goes on of other important factors. We had a gut feeling that Hazel Gap Barn would be the answer to our search but didn't let ourselves believe it until we had been and had confirmation there was a free date. For us that venue was perfect, we loved it. It wasn't far from where I grew up, and the nearby Church had lots of family connections for my family too so everything fell in to place.
WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE SHOOT ME NOW FILMS TO DOCUMENT YOUR WEDDING?
In my job as an Art director I work with many photographers and videographers so choosing these both for our wedding was really enjoyable and important for me. Daniel stuck out as the best in my eyes from the start. I did investigate others, but no one compared. In another world it would have been my dream job to art direct my own photography and film from my wedding, but that is just not possible in any shape or form, so I knew I had to pick people that I could 100% trust in both personalities and styles.
We had no fear with Daniel that the film would be amazing, but it by far exceeded expectations. One of the best decisions we made was to have Daniel document the day.
WHAT DO YOU BOTH DO FOR A LIVING? WHAT IS IMPORTANT IN LIFE TO YOU AND HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAYS?
We both work for a Creative Marketing Agency. Olly is a Partnership director and I am an Art Director, both very different roles across a big business. As a creative I knew our guests would have high hopes for our wedding to be super thought through and stylish, so the pressure was on.
We fill our time, like most people, with being with our family and friends, we love good food and drink and entertaining at home.
THE PROPOSAL, HOW DID IT HAPPEN? WHAT IS THE STORY?
On 3rd September 2017, we were on holiday with our best friends in Portugal, staying at Olly's parents house. After a long day at our beach, we decided to stay in that night and have a BBQ. Whilst getting everything ready, Olly called me down the garden to under the fairy light lit olive tree and got down on one knee. Lots of tears, calls to family and friends and home-made cocktails later we had well and truly celebrated the news.
WHAT KIND OF EXPERIENCE DID YOU WANT YOUR GUESTS TO HAVE FROM YOUR WEDDING?
Very early on in the wedding planning we both wanted to think about the day as a whole and plan lots of things, big and small to surprise the guests with and mark moments of the day with special things and ideas.
Our main aim was that people felt like they were on holiday for the day. People to be carefree, happy, entertained, feel a lot of love all day long, have full tummies and have a glass in hand all day. We wanted them to feel like the day was a total reflection of us and from what people have said after the big day they certainly did.
