Fangar, Campanet Wedding - Mallorca Wedding Videography
What made you choose your venue?
We decided on Mallorca because that’s where we got engaged the year before. We live in Dubai and are originally from the UK - and Natalie didn’t want to get married in Dubai and Charlie didn’t want to do it in the UK so Mallorca was a pretty easy choice as it was a special place for us. We also had a lot of people attending the wedding from the UK so wanted somewhere that meant those people didn’t have to travel too far.
When it came to venues in Mallorca, we saw a whole bunch with our wedding planner but, despite wanting to get married on the other side of the island where we got engaged (Soller), we fell in love with Fangar as soon as we saw it - it was everything we wanted - picturesque, remote and plenty of room for our friends and family to stay on-site so we could make a real holiday out of it.
What made you choose me to capture your day?
We’d seen a number of films you had created for friends of ours and fell in love with your cinematic style - it was exactly what we wanted to capture - with a focus on the smallest details and moments that made the day so special. We also love your use of atmos sounds from throughout the day interspersed amongst the music. A few of our friends said it reminded them of the trailer for a new Netflix show when they saw it!
The proposal, how did it happen? What’s the story?
A complete surprise to Natalie, Charlie took her on holiday to Mallorca (we were back in the UK from Dubai for a spring break) and after an hour’s hike down a mountain in flip flops (she had not packed for either Mallorca in April or hiking) Charlie asked the question over rustic Spanish tapas and questionable yet crisp white whine. There was also a world scratch map involved in order to throw Natalie off the scent. It’s actually quite a long and complicated story...but that’s Charlie for you!
What do you guys do for a living? What’s important in life to you? How do you spend your days?
We both work in comms - specifically in social media for restaurants and hotels. Hence why we were so particular about our choice of videographer!
We spend our days either in the suburbs of Dubai with our little fluffy white dog Indy or in front of our laptops! When it comes to the stuff that’s important to us - we’re really very typical - good friends, good food, good wine and lots of good travel! Too much travel this year in fact. Less in 2019 - we’re exhausted! :)
What experience did you want your guests to have from your wedding?
We basically wanted them to have a f*g blast. We talked a lot about what we loved about weddings (and mainly what we didn’t!) and paid most attention to the latter. The rule was: at no point can people be bored. Of course we threw alcohol at the problem (read: we’re English) but also really tried to make our friends and family feel as special as possible throughout the entire day - this is the one chance in life you get to have everybody you love in one place, and therefore it’s the perfect opportunity to let them know how important they are to you, plus we were so grateful people were making such an effort to come and celebrate with us. So we created a ‘hanging garden of memories’ - photos of them taken from moments of our shared lives hanging down from a trellace - and wrote individual notes to each guest on their wedding favour (a small bottle of sloe gin homemade by Natalie’s Dad). The notes were revealed on the inside of the bottle when guests were told to make a toast to themselves by Charlie in his speech
